Superman Is Dead Jadi Pemulung?

Jika Anda sedang berjalan-jalan di pantai Kuta pada hari Minggu, jangan kaget jika bertemu dengan pemulung yang memungut puntung rokok tapi penampilannya nyentrik. Bisa jadi, Anda bertemu dengan Superman Is Dead.

Ya, band asal Bali tersebut memiliki keseriusan dalam aksi sosial. Salah satunya, memungut puntung rokok. "SID punya misi menggalakkan bersepeda, kita sudah lakukan itu selama 3 tahun. Paling tidak di hari Minggu kita bersepeda ya tujuannya juga untuk global warming juga. Dan kita satu lagi misi kita untuk bersih-bersih sampah plastik, puntung rokok yang ada di kawasan pantai walaupun baru di Pantai Kuta," kata Boby, gitaris SID, ditemui di acara Bali Live Earth, Pecatu, Bali, Minggu (18/04).

Bersama dua personil lainnya, Eka dan Jerink, mereka juga aktif mengampanyekan kegiatan sosial lain.

"Kita sering main untuk kegiatan sosial, terakhir kita main di Jakarta tentang hak asasi manusia persisnya di kampus IKJ," lanjut Boby.

Keterlibatan mereka di konser Bali Live Earth juga bukti lain kepedulian mereka. Meskipun acara berpindah tempat, mereka tetap antusias. "Ya, kita tahunya juga sudah last minute, jadi kita menyampaikan pesan sosial tentang air ini ke audience kurang full ya. Untung ada teman-teman wartawan yang membantu dari segi promo," tambah Boby.

Untuk konser mereka juga mempersiapkan penampilan khusus. "Konsepnya akustik tapi nakal," tambah Eka.

PROFIL SUPERMAN IS DEAD

Awalnya band mereka bernama Superman Silvergun, nama yang diambil dari lagu milik Stone Temple Pilot`s. Namun mereka memutuskan untuk ganti nama menjadi Superman Is Dead karena mereka yakin bahwa tak ada orang yang sempurna di dunia ini.

SID sempat memproduksi tiga album secara independen, yaitu Case 15 (1997), Superman is Dead (1999) dan Bad Bad Bad (mini album, 6 tracks - 2002) sebelum bergabung dengan Sony-BMG Indonesia pada bulan Maret 2003.

Bersama Sony-BMG, SID sudah merilis empat album, yaitu Kuta Rock City (2003), The Hangover Decade (2004), Black Market Love (2006), dan Angel & The Outsiders (2009).
